NOTICE: RELEASE OF JUDGMENT IN REFERENCE RE: PROPOSED AMENDMENTS TO THE ENVIRONMENTAL MANAGEMENT ACT - MAY 24, 2019
The Court of Appeal's Reasons for Judgment in Reference re: Proposed Amendments to the Environmental Management Act (CA45253) will be released and posted on the court's website on Friday, May 24, 2019.
There will be a lock-up for media representatives prior to the release of the Reasons for Judgment. Those media representatives who would like to attend the lock-up must pre-register and must sign the undertaking linked below. Only media representatives who have pre-registered to attend will be admitted to the lock-up.
To pre-register for the lock-up, please send an email with a scanned and signed copy of your undertaking to MediaLock-Up@courts.gov.bc.ca no later than 2:00 p.m. on Thursday, May 23, 2019. You are required to bring the signed hard copy to the lock-up, along with your ID.

JUDICIAL APPOINTMENT
The British Columbia Court of Appeal welcomes the appointment of the Honourable Madam Justice M. Joyce DeWitt-Van Oosten, a judge of the Supreme Court of British Columbia, to the Court of Appeal for British Columbia and the Court of Appeal of Yukon. The appointment is effective immediately. UPDATED PRACTICE DIRECTIVE: SUBMISSION OF ELECTRONIC FACTUMS AND STATEMENTS
The Chief Justice has amended Submission of Electronic Factums and Statements (Civil & Criminal Practice Directive, 2 July 2019). The updated directive will allow parties to submit factums and statements by email instead of via USB or other physical media. It is effective July 2, 2019.

REPEALED PRACTICE DIRECTIVE: JOINT APPEAL BOOKS AND TRANSCRIPT EXTRACTS
The Chief Justice has repealed Joint Appeal Books and Transcript Extracts (Civil Practice Directive, 19 September 2011). The practice of filing joint books is familiar to litigants and is set out in the Court of Appeal Rules. It is repealed immediately.

The Honourable Chief Justice Robert Bauman is pleased to advise that there will be a formal ceremony to welcome the Honourable Mr. Justice Patrice Abrioux to the Court of Appeal for British Columbia and the Court of Appeal of Yukon. The welcoming ceremony will be held on Friday, 31 May 2019 at 4:15 p.m. in Courtroom 60 of the Vancouver Law Courts.
