AMENDMENT TO THREE COURTS' POLICY ON USE OF ELECTRONIC DEVICES IN COURTROOMS

The Three Courts’ Policy on Use of Electronic Devices in Courtrooms has been amended to clarify the use that can be made of electronic devices during ceremonies and to provide direction to media on retention and destruction of audio recordings used to verify notes. The amended Policy may be found here.

UPDATED PRACTICE DIRECTIVE: FAMILY LAW APPEALS (CIVIL PRACTICE DIRECTIVE, 28 FEBRUARY 2018)

The Chief Justice has issued Family Law Appeals (Civil Practice Directive, 28 February 2018). The updated directive addresses the availability of case management for family law appeals. It is effective immediately.

NEW PRACTICE DIRECTIVE: CONSENT ORDERS (CIVIL PRACTICE DIRECTIVE, 28 FEBRUARY 2018)

The Chief Justice has issued Consent Orders (Civil Practice Directive, 28 February 2018). The new directive provides guidance on submitting consent orders to the Court of Appeal. It is effective immediately.

WELCOMING CEREMONY - THE HONOURABLE MADAM JUSTICE SUSAN GRIFFIN

The Honourable Chief Justice Robert Bauman is pleased to advise that there will be a formal ceremony to welcome the Honourable Madam Justice Susan Griffin to the Court of Appeal for British Columbia and the Court of Appeal of Yukon. The welcoming ceremony will be held on Thursday, 1 March 2018 at 4:15 p.m. in Courtroom 60 of the Vancouver Law Courts.

The British Columbia Court of Appeal welcomes the appointment of the Honourable Madam Justice Susan A. Griffin, a judge of the Supreme Court of British Columbia, to the Court of Appeal for British Columbia and the Court of Appeal of Yukon. The appointment is effective immediately.
