WELCOMING CEREMONY - THE HONOURABLE MR. JUSTICE RICHARD GOEPEL

On Friday, January 17, 2014, the court of Appeal will held a formal ceremony to welcome the Honourable Mr. Justice Richard Goepel to the Court. The ceremony will take place at 4:15 p.m. in Courtroom 60 of the Vancouver Law Courts. Following the ceremony refreshments will be served in the Law Court Inn restaurant for family, friends and colleagues.

The Court of Appeal is issuing a new Practice Directive on the procedure to follow when there is an appeal allegation of Ineffective Assistance of Counsel in the lower court.

NOTICE: RELEASE OF JUDGMENT IN CARTER V. CANADA (ATTORNEY GENERAL) - OCTOBER 10, 2013

The Court of Appeal's Reasons for Judgment in Carter v Canada (Attorney General) will be released and posted on the court's website on Thursday, October 10, 2013 at 10 am.

There will be a lock-up for media representatives prior to the release of the Reasons for Judgment. Those media representatives who would like to attend the lock-up must pre-register and must sign the undertaking below. Only media representatives who have pre-registered to attend will be admitted to the lock-up.

To register for the lock-up, please send an email to MediaLock-Up@courts.gov.bc.ca no later than 3:00 p.m. on October 9, 2013 with a scanned and signed copy of your undertaking.
