Please be advised that Family Practice Direction 18 - Applications made by Requisition pursuant to Supreme Court Family Rules 7-1(4), 14-3(4), 22-1(3) and (4) and 22-6(4),has been issued by Chief Justice Hinkson effective March 31, 2022. Family Practice Direction 18 rescinds and replaces Family Practice Direction 13.

NEW POLICY ON ACCESS TO THE COURT RECORD

The Supreme Court has issued the Policy on Access to the Court Record, which takes effect Monday, March 28, 2022. The new policy provides guidance regarding public access to the court record and replaces the former Court Record Access Policy. The new policy includes the Court Record Access Request Form as a means of allowing media and members of the public to request access to certain court records as set out in the policy.

SUPREME COURT LEGAL COUNSEL COMPETITION - TEMPORARY FULL-TIME POSITION - VANCOUVER

The Supreme Court has an opening for legal counsel for a temporary, 18 month full-time position in Vancouver. Applicants should have at least six years of active legal practice with a particular focus in family law. The Supreme Court of British Columbia welcomes the appointment of the Honourable Justice Michael Stephens, the Honourable Justice Michael Thomas, and the Honourable Justice Jacqueline Hughes to Vancouver, the Honourable Justice Bruce Elwood, the Honourable Justice Baljinder Girn, and the Honourable Justice John Gibb-Carsley to New Westminster, and the Honourable Justice Briana Hardwick to Kelowna. Public welcoming ceremonies will be held on a date to be scheduled, and information about the welcoming ceremonies will be posted on the Court's website.

JUDICIAL LAW CLERK PROGRAM RECRUITMENT FOR THE 2023 - 2024 TERM - APPLICATION DEADLINE EXTENDED

The Application deadline for the Judicial Law Clerk Program for the 2023-2024 term has been extended to Friday, January 21, 2021 at 3:00 pm Pacific Time. If you are experiencing delays obtaining official law school or undergraduate transcripts, you may submit an unofficial copy of your transcripts and include a note that an official copy has been requested and will be provided when available. If your unofficial transcripts for the September to December 2021 term are not available before the extended deadline of Friday January 21, 2022 at 3:00 pm Pacific time, please note that on your application and submit an unofficial transcript as soon as it becomes available. Please ensure that you submit all other portions of your application materials (including your cover letter, resume and transcripts that are available) by email on or before the extended application deadline of Friday January 21, 2022 at 3:00 pm Pacific time.

Video conference interviews will take place between February 2-11 and February 28 to March 4, 2022.
