JUDICIAL APPOINTMENT - MR. JUSTICE E. DAVID CROSSIN
The Supreme Court of British Columbia welcomes the appointment of the Honourable Mr. Justice E. David Crossin to Vancouver. For more information about Mr. Justice Crossin, please see the news release issued by the Department of Justice Canada. A public welcoming ceremony for Mr. Justice Crossin will be held on a date to be scheduled, and information about the welcoming ceremony will be posted on the Court’s website once it is available.

COURT RECORD ACCESS POLICY - AMENDMENTS AFFECTING REQUESTS TO ACCESS AUDIO RECORDINGS
The Supreme Court has issued amendments to the Court Record Access Policy that take effect on Monday, October 2, 2017. Revised versions of the undertaking of counsel and the model access order for requests to access audio recordings are found in Appendices A and B of the Policy.

JUDICIAL RETIREMENT - HONOURABLE MR. JUSTICE PETER D. LEASK
The Supreme Court of British Columbia announces that the Honourable Mr. Justice Leask retired from the Supreme Court of British Columbia at Vancouver on September 15, 2017. Mr. Justice Leask was appointed to the Supreme Court in 2005.

The Supreme Court of British Columbia announces that the Honourable Mr. Justice Rogers retired from the Supreme Court of British Columbia at Kelowna on September 1, 2017. Mr. Justice Rogers was appointed to the Supreme Court in 2001.Â

JUDICIAL RETIREMENT - HONOURABLE MADAM JUSTICE VICTORIA GRAY
The Supreme Court of British Columbia announces that the Honourable Madam Justice Gray retired from the Supreme Court of British Columbia at Vancouver on August 31, 2017. Madam Justice Gray was appointed to the Supreme Court in 2001.

WELCOMING CEREMONY - MR. JUSTICE RILEY AND MADAM JUSTICE SHERGILL - SEPTEMBER 6, 2017 - VENUE CHANGE
The venue for the Welcoming Ceremony for the Honourable Mr. Justice Riley and the Honourable Madam Justice Shergill has been changed. The Welcoming Ceremony will be held on Wednesday, September 6, 2017 at the Vancouver Law Courts in Courtroom 55 at 4:15 p.m. Members of the public are invited to attend the Welcoming Ceremony.

CALL AND ADMISSION CEREMONY - FRIDAY, SEPTEMBER 22, 2017
This event will take place in the Great Hall at the Vancouver Law Courts. There will be approximately 165 candidates being called to the Bar. The presiding Judge for the morning ceremony at 9:30 am will be The Honourable Mr. Justice John Steeves and for the afternoon ceremony at 1:30 pm, Mr. Justice Neill Brown.

The Supreme Court of British Columbia announces that the Honourable Mr. Justice Sigurdson retired from the Supreme Court of British Columbia at Vancouver on August 18, 2017. Mr. Justice Sigurdson was appointed to the Supreme Court in 1994.

Due to lifting of the Evacuation Order that has been in effect in Williams Lake and the surrounding areas, the Supreme Court registry in Williams Lake will re-open on Monday, July 31, 2017.
If you have an appearance scheduled in Williams Lake and require further information, please contact Supreme Court Scheduling in Prince George: 1-866-614-2750 (for residents within 250 area code only) or 1-250-614-2750.
The Supreme Court is co-located with the Provincial Court in Williams Lake. For more information about closures affecting the Provincial Court, please consult the Provincial Court website.

Due to the current wildfire activity in the Interior Region of the Province and the Evacuation Order that is in effect in Williams Lake and surrounding areas, the Supreme Court registry in Williams Lake is closed and will remain closed until the evacuation order has been lifted.
