Chief Justice Hinkson announces that long chambers matters in Vancouver may be booked on an assize basis.

NEW PRACTICE DIRECTION: STANDARD DIRECTIONS FOR APPEALS FROM MASTERS, REGISTRARS AND SPECIAL REFEREES
Chief Justice Hinkson has issued Practice Direction 54 Standard Directions for Appeals from Masters, Registrars and Special Referees which will take effect on May 1, 2017. PD 54 sets out the procedure which must be followed and documents which must be filed to bring an appeal from the decision of a master, registrar or special referee.

JUDICIAL RETIREMENT - THE HONOURABLE MADAM JUSTICE SANDRA K. BALLANCE
The Supreme Court of British Columbia announces that the Honourable Madam Justice Ballance retired from the Supreme Court of British Columbia at Vancouver on December 31, 2016. Madam Justice Ballance was appointed to the Supreme Court in 2002.
