This event will take place in the Great Hall at the Vancouver Law Courts. There will be approximately 65 to 70 Candidates being called to the Bar. The presiding Judge will be The Honourable Mr. Justice Keith Bracken.

NOTICE REGARDING APPLICATIONS FOR EXEMPTION FROM THE CRIMINAL CODE PROHIBITION AGAINST PHYSICIAN ASSISTED DEATH
Chief Justice Hinkson has issued a notice to provide guidance to counsel and parties who intend to bring an application to the Supreme Court of British Columbia for an exemption from the Criminal Code prohibition in response to the direction from the Supreme Court of Canada in Carter v. Canada (Attorney General), 2016 SCC 4. A copy of the Notice is available here.

AMENDMENTS TO THE SUPREME COURT CIVIL AND FAMILY RULES - EFFECTIVE JULY 1, 2016
Effective July 1, 2016, amendments to the Supreme Court Civil and Family Rules will come into effect. See the Orders in Council linked below. The amendments to the Civil Rules include revisions to the procedures relating to Trial Management Conferences and changes to the Tariff. The amendments to the Family Rules, include changes to the family pleadings forms.

The Supreme Court of British Columbia announces that the Honourable Mr. Justice Macaulay retired from the Supreme Court of British Columbia at Victoria on December 31, 2015.
