The Welcoming Ceremony for Mr. Justice Armstrong and Mr. Justice Blok will be held on Thursday, November 25, 2010 at the New Westminster Law Courts at 9:00 a.m. in Courtroom 207. Members of the public are invited to attend the Welcoming Ceremony.

Judicial Appointments - October 28, 2010
The Supreme Court of British Columbia welcomes the appointment of the Honourable Madam Justice Jeanne E. Watchuk, a judge of the Provincial Court of British Columbia, to Vancouver and the appointment of the Honourable Mr. Justice Murray B. Blok, District Registrar of the British Columbia Supreme Court, to New Westminster. Madam Justice Watchuk was appointed to fill the vacancy created by the retirement of Mr. Justice Pitfield. Mr. Justice Blok was appointed to fill the vacancy created in New Westminster when Mr. Justice Gaul transferred to Victoria to a fill a vacancy created when Madam Justice Dorgan elected supernumerary status.

Administrative Notice 7 - Cover Page Requirements - November 1, 2010
Chief Justice Bauman issued AN-7 - Cover Page Requirements which is designed to assist registry staff distinguish one black binder from the next black binder by requiring a cover page on written briefs filed with the registry. AN-7 takes effect on November 1, 2010.

Practice Direction 28 - Chambers Practice - November 1, 2010
Chief Justice Bauman issued PD-28 - Chambers Practice which is designed to put into place some administrative procedures that will allow chambers lists to be managed more efficiently in advance of the hearing and in the courtroom. PD-28 takes effect on November 1, 2010.
