NOTICE: RULE 67 - FAX FILING
Please be advised that the Supreme Court Rules Revision Committee has issued a Notice to the Profession dated June 26, 2009 advising that Rule 67 which provides for the commencement of proceedings by fax filing in certain registries has been extended to July 2, 2010.

NOTICE: NOTICE TO THE PROFESSION - GOWNING POLICY
Chief Justice Brenner issued a Notice to the Profession concerning a new Gowning Policy adopted by the Court. The Gowning Policy expands the occasions upon which counsel is required to gown for appearances before the Court unless the presiding judge otherwise orders. The Gowning Policy will take effect on September 8, 2009.

NOTICE: PRACTICE DIRECTION - REVISED MODEL CCAA INITIAL ORDER
Chief Justice Brenner has issued a new Practice Direction concerning initial orders made under the Companies Creditors Arrangement Act. Effective July 1, 2009, the Court will adopt a revised standard form of order for CCAA initial orders. The Revised Model CCAA Initial Order contains amendments from the original Model CCAA Initial Order which account for developments in the law and practice which have occurred since the introduction of the original Model CCAA Initial Order and to align, as much as possible, the practice in British Columbia with other common law jurisdictions in Canada.

The Registrar's Newsletter is a Question and Answer resource that is used by District Registrars and Deputy District Registrars throughout the province to help clarify registry practice with respect to a number of provincial statutes and the Supreme Court Rules. NOTICE: REPEAL OF RULE 67
Please be advised that the Supreme Court Rules Revision Committee has issued a Notice to the Profession dated April 14, 2009 concerning the repeal of Rule 67 which provides for the commencement of proceedings by fax filing in a limited number of registries. Rule 67 is scheduled to be repealed on July 2, 2009 and fax filing will not be permitted after that date unless Rule 67 is extended. In the event that Rule 67 is extended beyond July 2, 2009, additional notice will be provided.Â
