Judicial Appointment - September 30, 2011
The Supreme Court of British Columbia welcomes the appointment of the Honourable Mr. Justice Patrice Abrioux to Vancouver. Mr. Justice Abrioux has been appointed to fill the vacancy created when Mr. Justice Sigurdson elected supernumerary status.
For more information about Mr. Justice Abrioux, please see the press release issued by the Minister of Justice. A public welcoming ceremony for Mr. Abrioux will be held on a date to be scheduled.

Vancouver Law Courts Chambers Practice Changes - October 3, 2011
Effective October 3, 2011, new measures are being adopted at the Vancouver Law Courts in relation to chambers applications to address the number of matters being bumped, the difficulty rescheduling continuations and the lack of early hearing dates. For details about the new measures, please see the Notice re Measures to Address Problems with Chambers at VLC issued by Chief Justice Bauman on September 19, 2011.

Practice Direction #31 - Model Seizure and Safekeeping of Evidence Order - September 15, 2011
Chief Justice Bauman has issued PD-31 - Model Seizure and Safekeeping of Evidence Order which requires the use of a standard form of order for the search, seizure and safekeeping of evidence in civil proceedings (commonly referred to as "Anton Piller" orders). The model order was prepared by a working group which included representatives of the judiciary, the Law Society of British Columbia and members of the legal profession. PD-31 - Model Seizure and Safekeeping of Evidence Order takes effect on September 15, 2011.
